The EU has significantly increased the anti-dumping tariff rate on Chinese ceramic products to 79%

2026-02-09

The European Union announced a significant increase in anti-dumping tariffs on Chinese ceramic products to 79%.

According to Reuters, since conducting an investigation in 2013, the European Union has imposed anti-dumping duties on Chinese imports of ceramic plates, cups, bowls, and other tableware and kitchenware.

The official announcement released by the European Union on Friday (February 6th) shows that all 27 member states of the EU will raise the anti-dumping duty rates on the above-mentioned products from the current 13.1% to 36.1% to 79%. The new tax rate will be implemented for a period of five years.

The European Commission stated that the above measures were taken to address unfair business practices in China. The committee pointed out that Chinese ceramic manufacturers are controlled and guided by the government, and receive preferential treatment in financing, land, and raw materials. The Committee compiles "normal" reference indicators of raw material, labor and energy costs based on Türkiye's data, and determines that Chinese ceramic manufacturers export products at low prices.

The European Ceramic Industry Association has applied to the European Union for a review of Chinese imported ceramics, stating that the above measures will protect the livelihoods of more than 30000 people employed by European ceramic tableware and decoration manufacturers.
